Amie Siegel

Amie Siegel
For New York-based artist Amie Siegel’s first solo show in London, the South London Gallery presents recent works which explore the mechanisms through which objects become imbued with meaning. Known for her layered, meticulously constructed works that consider the undercurrents of value systems, cultural ownership and image-making, Siegel works across film, video, photography, performance and installation.

The Infinite Mix

The Infinite Mix: Contemporary Sound and Image

A Hayward Gallery off-site exhibition presented
in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory at The Store, 180 The Strand.

I have heard this is excellent- a must see!

The Infinite Mix: Contemporary Sound and Image brings together audiovisual artworks that are soulful and audacious in their exploration of a wide range of subjects. In all of the works in this exhibition the interplay between moving image and sound is crucial. Most of the artists have composed, commissioned or remixed soundtracks that relate to the visual element of their work in unexpected ways, and ensure that what you hear is just as important as what you see.

Artangel project – Dinh Q. Lê ‘Colony’ installation in Peckham

This ends soon – 9th October-  but it is quite spectacular, nicely done, and worth the adventure into a pretty fascinating space

The Colony is a new film installation by Vietnamese artist and filmmaker Dinh Q. Lê on the site of one of London’s earliest cinemas, Peckham’s Electric Theatre which opened in 1908. Lê’s films immerse the viewer in the desolate environment of the Chincha Islands off the coast of Peru.
